I hung the drapes, found the perfect bedspread, Painted the headboard, now I just have to attach it. and hang her pictures.
....But I have been busy with some other projects. It's one of my favorite rooms in the house.
But it's not really a room....It's the screened in area, out back, just outside my family room.
My son had bought me one of those screen gazebos, because he knew I wanted to make a little shady tropical spot in the yard. Our yard is usually all sun, all day.... A bit much.
A sweet spot to relax out of the sun, that I've been
busy dressing up.
I just found this one at Bed Bath and Beyond. with my 20 % off coupon plus the sale last weekend.
Funny thing is.. it really matches the old outdoor furniture that I recently covered. So I decided to take 2 covers off of 2 of the chairs and use them in this little screen room,
until I get myself an outdoor sofa.
Which is on my wish list since like the year 2001. I have one down the shore house but not here at the family home. I have to tell ya that sofa at the shore house... best investment ever. I got it from target a few years back, maybe 5 and... it is the bomb. Held up to all kinds of terrible weather and traffic.
It's a super spot for napping and reading. which is my intention here in this little nook. a cozy spot to read the new Dan Brown book, my daughter got me for my birthday, "The Lost symbol"..( by the way it's a really good book ). so in the mean time the chairs will do!. I put my feet up on the little kiddy chair.
and sip a moito.
.. Below is my little table i found "while cruising" She used to be pine and of course I slapped on some white paint... oops no b 4 pic.! .a perfect outdoor table that no one cares if it gets ruined, because it was free. and it still has chew marks all over it! I just wasn't in the mood to power sand anything.
But still...I think..so much better than those plastic tables they sell.
She is the perfect table to hold all my pre columbian artifacts....:))...joke...ing
There are all just souveniers from Mexico or San Diego from years ago. A few are even dollar store grabs.
They give me just a touch of that eclectic environment that I always crave. That little hacienda feel to kick back and relax with a cool drink.
Thrifty things like an overturned pot and a huge slab of flagstone make a great table that endures a ton of beatings.
And this old pot in the corner, has chipped off just enough to fit in perfectly.
I love this old black iron plant stand. Found years ago at a yard sale.
So basically for the thrifty cost of a pop up screen and a rug on sale..
88.00 screen
49.00 rug
137.00
we got ourselves an outdoor room which will be used around here till well into November. a place to relax and read, even in the rain, feeling the summer breeze. All of the other items we've had and used in various places around the yard or the house.
We even use it at night.
And look who took over my spot this morning! Her name is Snowflake. Lots of white with some brown smudged in
Who couldn't love a face like that?
You've seen all the corners of my little summertime hacienda outdoor room at my family home.
So in honor of White Wednesday at faded charm....besides my little Snowy..
some white wildflowers on the way to the beach..
some white hydrangeas in the lighthouse gardens
A pretty white garden gate
A quite bench
All welcome respites from the heat.
It's rumored to be 102 here tomorrow, come and sit in a sweet cool spot.
Thanks for stopping by!
Eileen
